3D Modeling

Skunk and Squirrel

I had the opportunity to create two of the Average Forest’s smallest residents! Both were relatively simple, and I even reused the arms from the squirrel model for the skunk — this streamlined things and helped me complete them rather quickly to be sent to our team’s technical artist for rigging. Models/UVs created in Maya, textures painted in Adobe Substance 3D Painter and cleaned up in Adobe Photoshop.

Campsite Props

Created in the early stages of development, artists like myself were tasked with creating props and other environment pieces to help with set dressing for the campsite. I chose to make different variants of certain props to create additional decorative variety. All models/UVs created in Maya, textures painted in Adobe Photoshop.

Animation

Animal NPCs

For each animal NPC, I created a simple looping idle animation, as well as a separate greeting animation that plays when the player approaches. I loved seeing how their personalities came through with each of their animations!

Human NPCs

Our engineers gave the animators a list of what animations were needed to represent the different states of the human enemy AI, ranging anywhere from terrified and fleeing to angry and ready to shoot down the bear. I was tasked with creating some of the supporting animations, including an angry walk cycle and a scared run.
